LOS ANGELES — A judge says Chris Brown has been doing well and following his probation rules since his last hearing in August. The Grammy-winning R&B singer appeared in a Los Angeles court Thursday for a progress report. Judge James Brandlin told Brown he's shown good cooperation with the probation department. Brandlin bumped Brown's community labor requirement from three days to four, but said that was only to ensure that he met his work requirement by the end of his probation in January. Another hearing is scheduled for Jan. 15. Brown was jailed for nearly three months earlier this year for violating his probation by getting into an altercation outside a Washington, D.C., hotel last year. He was on probation after he attacked pop singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend, before the 2009 Grammy Awards.

It appears the on-going ceasefire deal between the Presidency and Boko Haram has finally collapsed with the reported abduction of a fresh set of Sixty Women by suspected members of the deadly Boko Haram sect at Waga Mangoro and Garta villages, both in troubled Adamawa State. Forty of the women were said to have been abducted in Waga Mangoro and the other 20 were forcefully taken away from Grata, all in Adamawa. Some of the fleeing residents from the area, who called journalists in Yola on the telephone lamented that scores of insurgents riding motorcycles and driving vans had invaded their towns. The fleeing residents while lamenting the capture of the two towns, said they were able to sneak out of the captured towns on Tuesday, but disclosed that their villages were ravaged on Saturday.

A Lagos State Polytechnic student named Bola had her right ear bitten off by her neighbour during a fight this past Monday October 20th at her residence in Ikorodu. According to an eye-witness to the fight, the other lady allegedly hid the ear in her mouth for a few minutes after biting if off. Observers have accused the Governor Babatunde Fashola administration of relaxing the law based on 2015 political considerations.
