A new born baby delivered inside train toilet in India, has survived after it slipped through the toilet bowl to fall on rail tracks. Police officer, Anil Sirohi said on Wednesday in New Delhi that a pregnant woman had labour pains while travelling on Monday on the train in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday. He said that the 23-year-old went to the toilet and delivered a baby girl that slipped out and onto the tracks from the train. “Passengers on the train heard her cries for help and pulled the emergency chain to bring the train to a halt. Moments later they ran toward the baby and found it was alive,” he said. The officer said that the railway police moved both mother and child to a nearby hospital. Railway official, Chandra Mohan-Jindal, said it was a miracle that the newborn girl survived after falling on concrete boulders of the track from such a height. “Fortunately the train was not at a great speed as it had just begun its journey from the railway station.”

The Federal Government says will digitalise the operations of the Federal Civil Service in 2016 to forestall altering of vital documents by some officials. The acting Head of the Civil Service (HOS) of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja, when she paid an unscheduled visit to some Ministries and Government Agencies. She said the visit was to monitor the level of staff punctuality to duty, especially after the Christmas holidays. “It was necessary for me to come round today with some of my permanent secretaries when I observed the scantiness in some offices after the Christmas holidays. “The essence is to find out what is really happening,’’ the acting HOS said. The 2015 edition of the annual music awards- The Headies- has been postponed to Friday, January 1 2016. The Headies, one of the most coveted awards in the Nigerian music industry, was initially scheduled to hold on Wednesday, December 30. The Central Bank of Nigeria says it has no power to reverse the restriction placed on the use of Automated Teller Machine cards abroad. The apex bank said it’s in support of the Deposit Money Banks’ decision to place a restriction on the use of ATM cards abroad. The CBN said the move which will help in reducing the pressure on the naira, became necessary due to a scarcity of foreign exchange. Director, Monetary Policy Department, CBN, Moses Tule, while speaking with journalists over the weekend, explained that the restriction may continue until the country is able to increase its foreign exchange earnings. “The limitation on the use of debit or credit cards outside the country was not a limitation that was placed by the CBN. “They were restrictions that Deposit Money Banks placed because they have to settle whatever transactions you make with your debit cards with their corresponding banks in foreign currency. A female suicide bomber attacked the home of a village head, Bulama Isa in Maiduguri yesterday evening, killing his three wives and their 10 children yesterday December 27th. The incident happened as Boko haram members engaged the Nigerian troops in a gun battle earlier yesterday evening. Eyewitnesses say the woman pretended Boko Haram was chasing her, as she ran into the compound of the village head. “She ran into Bulama Isa’s compound shouting ‘Boko Haram, Boko Haram. Group Managing Director NNPC and Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, during his tour of Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company, KRPC, yesterday, said the country will still rely on 75 per cent importation of fuel throughout the whole of next year. According to him: “The future is that, Nigeria is still going to import fuel in 2016 and beyond. Best case situation is 25 per cent local and 75 per cent importation. Worse case is what we are experiencing now. “Until we begin to get individuals who can co-relocate, we are going to be doing a mixture of local and importation of fuel to meet up demands.
